About Boof
Hi, I’m Boof, my unflattering name came with me from the Pound, where I was surrendered because my owners didn’t want me anymore. I’m a Stumpy Tailed Australian Cattle Dog, but basically I have no tail.
I don’t think it was my fault that I didn’t have a clue about basic things like not jumping on people, sitting and walking on a leash. Being an exuberant young chap who longed for attention, plus my lack of manners probably made me not the nicest boy in the backyard.
But guess what? I’ve only been here a week or two and now I can do all those things I didn’t know how to before and I know I’m a quick learner if I’m given the opportunity. My mid 60’s foster mum, with a recently replaced knee has managed to convert me into a much more pleasant young man.
With structure, positive reinforcement and a stable family life with people who want me around, my mum says I will go ahead in leaps and bounds and that I’ll be a truly amazing boy.
Because I’m still only young, I’m exuberant and playful and sometimes forget that little people are quite fragile compared to me, so a home without young children would be best. I would never deliberately hurt them, it’s just that I might knock them over accidentally.
I would love an active lifestyle. To be taken out and about for walks and runs on and off leash, to see and smell the outside world, would be a dream come true, because before I came here, I’d never been out of the backyard and life was so boring and unstimulating.
I’m a good boy with other dogs and love them all, (and dare I say it, even my foster mum’s little yappy things that tell me off for no apparent reason - I wouldn’t dream of retaliating).
I’m being cared for at Moree, NSW.
