About Buddy ~ 2yo Cattle Dog x Staffy (On Trial 9/5/20)
Introducing Buddy - a 2 year Cattle Dog x Staffy who is cheeky and loves to play. Buddy has lovely Cattle Dog markings and a Staffys perky ears and “frog pose” mastered - so if you’re a fan of these two breeds then you’ll love this smart and eager boy.
Buddy lives with a few dogs - he would really suit a home with a female, playful dog of a similar age (or perhaps a little older to help provide a good role model). He plays best with some of the younger dogs and also with Evie who is a 5 year old very tolerant cattle dog. He annoys some of the calmer, older dogs with his teenager antics (like his game of nip and bolt !), so he would benefit from a female dog who will respond well to his youthful mischief. He is way too curious to live with fluffy dogs, pocket pets or cats so requires a home without them.
Buddy has been abused by a teenager so he’s initially shy when meeting new people. When given patience, space (and some yummy treats!) he’ll realise you are friends to be trusted. He trusts women before men, however if you are a calm natured man (who isn’t too gruff) he’ll come around to trusting you too - especially when you have treats to offer!
Due to Buddy’s breed mix he is very smart and eager to learn - he has basic manners and would love to be challenged with more advanced training once adopted. He responds well to strong leadership in that he’s more comfortable when he has a routine and knows what is expected of him.
Buddy likes to have things to do, and being an active young fellow he would make the perfect jogging companion for you. If you like to get out in the fresh air to exercise then he’ll eagerly join you for a daily walk or run. He will require a grassy yard for playtime and secure colourbond or solid wood fencing . He can climb chicken wire (typical staffy!)
Buddy is currently used to being outside however he’d absolutely love to be invited inside the house with his new family. He will need some toilet refresher training when inside as he can nervously mark in new surroundings - using a lead inside will help with his toilet training. He will happily sleep in a warm bed outside or in a back room/laundry. He understands “go to bed” and will put himself to bed when he gets busted for puppy-like mischief! Buddy will make himself at home inside - lazing around frog-style and catching a quick snooze when his new family invites him in.
