About Curtis
Is it my turn yet??
I've seen so many other kitties finding families all of their own... I'm patiently waiting for my turn.
Hi I'm Curtis. I'm a handsome lad who is about 5 years old.
I've been in care with SAFE for 110 days now - they look after me well but I know my perfect person is out there!
I have spent most of my life (maybe all of it - me memory is a little foggy) living as a stray in an industrial area. It's not a very nice life, or a very safe one either.
One day I was caught in a trap - it was terrifying, but I thought maybe things were looking up. As it happens, I had been caught by a pest control company.
I'm not a pest! 😢
They were going to put me to sleep but a fortunate turn of events ultimately led to me finding myself in the care of SAFE. NOW things had turned around for me!
I am not a cat who will suit every home, whichs is why I'm still here. I understand that and I promise I'm trying my best. But I need patience and understanding to help me be my best self <3
One way to look at it is that I may have been in foster care for over 100 days but I had been on the streets for around 1,800 days!! 😲
So you can see why I need time and understanding to overcome my past.
I need a quiet home with someone who is patient and understanding, who doesn't have expectations around how long I might take to settle in or what my adjustment period might look like.
A home that is generally fairly quiet would be good.
I do like other cats a lot, so a feline friend (maybe one who is more confident and can show me the ropes!) would be good. 😺😺
I think a dog would be okay too, if they can give me my space and let us become friends in my own time.
I will hide when I first arrive so I'll need a small space that can help me feel safe.
It's also essential that I am an indoor-only cat (or have access to a secure cat run).
I'm FIV positive but currently in great health. You can read more about FIV here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/.../caring-for-cats-with-feline-...
My foster mum has attached a video of me here. As you can see, I am super smoochy and love pats (not on my head though - start at the neck and work back please!)
But, I do panic and lash out sometimes. This happens a lot less now and I'm working on it, I promise!
When I first arrived, my foster mum couldn't touch me at all because I would lunge and swipe at her. So you can see that I've come soooo far!
Please give me a chance. If you can't adopt me, please share this post!
It's my time to shine!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks,
Love Curtis <3
PS Did I mention I'm also FREE to adopt? 'Cos I am
