About Chopper
Hi there, I'm handsome and happy Chopper and I can't wait to find my perfect new family.
I may be 5 years old but in my head I'm still a puppy - a big, bouncy bundle of joy!
I have lots of love to give and would love to receive heaps of yours in return.
I have spent a lot of my life outdoors and tied up, which really sucks, so I'd love a new home where I can be indoors as part of the family.
My foster mum says I'm lovely to have around but I'm a big goofball who tends to forget my own size and strength. For this reason I will be best suited to a home with kids who are a bit bigger (maybe 8 years plus would be good) and who have some experience around dogs so that we can all be best buds.
It's also important that everyone in the house respects my personal space and doesn't try to grab toys or food from me while I'm really engaged with them.
I love to play with other dogs of all shapes and sizes and I think it would be great if you had a chilled out friendly lady dog in your home for me to be best friends with!
However, when out and about at dog parks and such, I do tend to get super excitable and can be too enthusiastic for some other dogs so I am best to be socialised in more laid-back or quieter settings.
I am not destructive or excessively vocal so I'll be fine for people who work part or full time.
I'm a super sook too who loves pats and snuggles (I sometimes forget I'm not a lap dog!)
I'm a robust boy but I've got a couple of things to be aware of with my health. I really hope they don't put you off from adopting me, because I'm an awesome guy!
Like many staffies, I've got some issues with my skin. In my foster home I'm doing well on anti-histamines and a low-allergy diet but I could also do well on low-dose steroids (on a seasonal basis) or on a medication like Apoquel.
I definitely don't have really severe allergies, but I can get kinda itchy so if you've got experience with this or you're willing to learn, that would be great.
I've also got some early signs of hip dysplasia that have been picked up on x-rays. It sure doesn't slow me down when I play! At the moment I'm not on any medication or requiring any treatment, though once I reach my more mature years I am likely to require a bit of extra care (though really, what animal won't?)
The lovely rescue who saved me from the pound were told that I have lived happily with cats in the past! I am not living with a cat in my foster home so if you have a dog-savvy feline friend, you could try introducing us slowly and hopefully we'll get along!
Thanks for reading my profile. Can we go play now?!
Thanks!
Chopper
PS My adoption fee is $410. I have now been desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked.
