Smokey Joe

Smokey Joe is a loooooong majestic beast, made of 50% fluff, 50% cat. He is quite social and chatty, with both humans he knows and other cats, although initially he might be a bit shy and want to hide in a quite place. He very much loves scratches behind the ears and under the chin, and can be quite playful at times. However, he also loves a good nap, especially in the sun, in a comfy bed, or weirdly on a shelf in his foster cares coffee table. He is not a fan of sitting on your lap, but will lie stretched along your legs, or curl up behind you knees if you are on your side. He enjoys watching the birds in the window, and would be very appreciative of an outdoor cat run or cat proofed yard.

Smokey Joe has one nemesis - closed doors! He is able to open all the sliding doors, and is offended by the hinged doors being closed. He also seems to have bad associations with being brushed, with him tending to run away, although we are currently working on this (it will probably be a work in progress at adoption day).

Smokey Joe is very submissive with other animals, but would love to be living with a social cat who is friendly and wants to play (and will not be intimidated by his size). He would also be happy to play with older children, but be intimidated by younger kids.

Smokey Joe is a healthy raw fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #956000009357670, source #EE101165). He is available for adoption right now!

To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a remote or in-person house check done, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion. Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
We only accept adoptions from people with residency in Australia. If you are on a work or student visa, talk to us about fostering with the group instead!
