NOT SUITABLE FOR APARTMENT LIVING.
Harry is a lovable but timid ladies man. He can be a little bit anxious so would be best suited to a calm and quiet household. He is quite a high energy dog who requires a decent amount of both exercise and mental stimulation to keep him happy.
He is learning basic commands like sit and drop, and is currently starting on mat/stay training to help with his impulse control. He responds well to training and is highly motivated by food rewards if training is done in secure surroundings.
Harry's favourite game is tug-of-war and he absolutely loves his Kong treat dispenser. He is still quite timid with balls but is making great progress finding his place within a pack.
He is a sweet and gentle boy who needs people committed to his training and rehabilitation. He is quite scared of males at this stage so will need time and space to adjust to any males in the household.
He is currently living with four children aged 2, 7, 9 and 11 and absolutely adores them. He would probably be best suited to a family with older children though, due to his size and lack of training.
He is pretty much toilet-trained already and we are working on his lead training inside at this stage, but will progress to outside walks once his vaccination takes effect. He is already showing progress with his recall as well.
He is an inside / outside dog at present which is helping with his timid nature towards people initially. His inside manners are improving daily. Harry sleeps inside with the family and is learning to have manners with both his 2 and 4 legged friends. He currently lives with 2 other large dogs 35kg (male) and 48kg (female) happily and is learning to engage in healthy play and interaction. He seems to gain a lot of confidence from the other dogs so would be best suited to a family with a calm and confident dog of their own. He can be a little food protective so he needs to be fed separately.
Standard fencing is fine as Harry has shown no inclination to either jump or dig. He does not bark much at all but will bark on occasion if a male is making him uncomfortable.
He has not been tested with cats, pocket pets or livestock and will need a large yard for exercise.
Harry really is the sweetest, most affectionate boy who is just waiting for someone to give him a chance.
