About Sisu
About Me
My name is Sisu , it is a Finnish concept described as stoic determination, tenacity of purpose, grit, bravery, resilience. And my foster mum thought it described me well.
I am 7-8 months old, I look like I have a mix of kelpie, whippet and who knows what else going on but I do have the beautiful soft colour of a Weimaraner too. I have eyes that look like opals and my paws are enormous, just like my heart.
Am I good with Kids?
I love everyone, sometimes a bit too exuberantly, but I am a young dog with basic skills and I could be great with kids who are good with dogs. I’d love to go to dog training classes so we could all learn together. I’ve missed out on some basic puppy training. I have been learning basic manners like sitting, nose targeting and I am a clever girlie if I may say so! I can be a bit mouthy, as puppies often are, but give me a toy to play with and I’m happy. So really, I guess older children would be best for me.
Am I good with Dogs?
I love other dogs, if I had one superpower I’d say it is that I know how to read other dogs, I came from a home originally where my parents were and my brothers and sisters lived, I am a dog savvy dog.
Am I good with Cats and other small animals?
Well, I find cats, chickens, rabbits pretty amazing and the sighthound part of my brain finds these things a bit too exciting. If I was to live with these animals I would need supervision and an diligent training plan.
Anything else Sisu wants to let you know?
I can get the odd upset tummy, my foster family have kept me on a low allergy diet and I’m picking up well, but they will make sure they have a sheet to go with me for an easy diet that seems to help my digestion. I have a very short coat and would need to be kept warm in winter, I sleep in a crate at night indoors at the moment as I am still learning that counter surfing and surprising the cats here is not really polite.
If you would like to meet Sisu please email us as much information as possible about your home, lifestyle and experience with pets so that we can see if you are both a good match. We only accept applications for adoption via email: sasrescue@gmail.com
