About Bella ~ BullArabxWolfhoundxDane (On trial 20/5/20)
PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE BELOW CRITERIA AND LIVE IN THE AREAS LISTED – Applications from people who are at work most of the time or have no other dog/s will not be suited to Bella.
Meet Bella, a beautiful Great Dane x Bull Arab x Wolfhound pup who will grow to be a large dog.
Bella is 11 weeks old and since coming into care, her foster mum has noticed that she most likely has an issue with her hearing. This doesn’t stop her being a happy and playful girl who loves to rumble with her brothers and foster brothers and sisters who are all big dogs.
Snuggling on laps is another of her favourite things to do. Her foster family has children who she bounds after while they run and ride their scooters.
Due to Bella’s hearing impairment she is best suited to a home with at least one other dog as hearing impaired dogs don’t cope well as solo dogs in their silent world. Her new family must be prepared to spend time teaching her hand signals which she should pick up very quickly. She’s already learning to sit for treats. She will require secure fencing and a family who understand that she cannot be let off lead - due to her inability to hear traffic or recall commands it’s too risky for her.
Hearing impaired puppies can be a little annoying for other dogs as they often miss cues (like growls) during play and day-to-day life living and interacting with other dogs. Hearing impaired puppies actually thrive in multi-dog households (eg. if it's a house with 2-3 resident dogs ). More canine friends to play with is great for their socialisation and means they can share their love without annoying one dog too much ! Due to Bella’s breed mix she will grow into a large dog and therefore she’s best suited to medium to large sized canine friends. She may suit a family with only one male dog as long as that dog very friendly, playful , willing to share and very tolerant of her innocent attention.
As Bella is not yet desexed, she is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because she'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when she's approximately 5 months old.
