About Peach π
Meet Peach!
Peach is approx 12-18 months old and she is full of life and energy. Peach is a mixed breed and our best guess is that she is a Border Collie, Kelpie and some sort of scent hound with a few other things sprinkled in.
She has been in foster care for just over a month and is really starting to let her true self shine. She came into care some separation anxiety and she was quite fearful of anything outside the yard - so almost everything was a new experience for her. She is quite timid of new situations at first but once she feels more comfortable - there's no stopping her!
She has come so far in such a short time and is now crate trained (sleeping in there overnight and also throughout the day for her snoozes), learning to be calm on cue, learning to play with toys (flirt pole and tug are her current favourites) and she's never had an accident in the house.
She walks well on a lead and she is great with other dogs of all sizes with slow introductions. She absolutely loves to sit on the couch (and when she arrived, even on the outdoor table or her crate). This has been less prominent since focusing more on crate training and she now prefers to sleep inside her crate rather than on top of it! She rarely barks and isn't bothered by the dogs either side of the house who do.
She has an amazing nose! All her meals are fed from treat balls/puzzle feeders which she works out very quickly. We have also started to do some scent work with her and she's caught onto that in a heartbeat too. After what was probably 5 short sessions, she learnt how to identify 'clove' as a scent and can now find it when faced with multiple vessels. We would love this to continue and think she'd be great to do this as a doggy sport in the future. She loves to run and swim and she will give almost anything a go once she feels confident. She has spent a day in a home with a dog savvy cat and it went very well.
Peach is an amazing, loving dog. She is looking for an experienced owner who knows the value of structured training, boundaries and mental enrichment. Peach would prefer to be inside and outside and requires secure fencing that she cannot dig out of while she acclimates to her new home. She would benefit from having another confident doggy friend in the home who could help her overcome her timidness and/or have an owner who will be home more often than not post Covid19.
