About Jasper
**Please see update at the bottom of the profile**
Jasper is a young-at-heart chihuahua, on the small side (yes, of chihuahua). He is five years old and has a healthy respect for house rules.
He was heartbroken when his family moved away and had to leave him behind, but it turns out he’s resilient when it comes to finding a new lap to curl up on.
Jasper is a home body. He finds the world a bit overwhelming, and tends to freeze in his tracks when out on walks if he sees a car, or a dog, or a person. But, given he’s only 2.5kg, it’s easy enough to pick him up if you need to.
He has smooth fur and won’t shed if you give him a wash once a week and a brush each day. He doesn’t love the bath, but will put up with it rather stoically.
Jasper is definitely motivated by cuddles over food. But he will accept both. He’s not an overeater and will play with dry food, carefully hiding it in hallways and under the table, where you are most likely to walk or step.
He barks on being surprised, growls now and then at loud noises, appreciate Boy and Bear, stands on his hind legs to get a good view of what’s on the dining table and cries when left on his own (occasionally reaching howls). He is very much a people person, and doesn’t seem to consider himself a dog. He had three cat siblings for most of his life, so has a few cat habits – pacing on the back on the couch, grooming his paws and washing his face. And sleeping in a warm spot whenever possible. Most preferably a lap.
He has one slightly outgrown lower tooth which gives him of a Billy Idol sneer that you’ll come to appreciate more then any aesthetic symmetry.
Basically, Jasper is a love muffin and you will find yourself gently caressing his hairless little chest protectively and gazing adoringly into his chupa chup eyeballs. Prepare to fall in love.
