About Stella

Meet the very stunning Stella!
This very affectionate, active girl came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender and is now ready to take the next step into a new home.
Stella was very timid when she came into care initially, but with love and affection she is really blossoming.
She is curious with new dogs that she meets and interacts well once she knows that they are friendly and want to be friends with her. She is untested with cats but does try to chase birds and lizards so would be best suited to a home without smaller animals.
Stella is housetrained and walks nicely on the lead when out and about. She is medium to high energy and enjoys at least an hours walking daily with her carer as well as added playtime. This is very important for Stella to keep her body and brain active to avoid destructive behaviours such as digging. She is rapidly learning new commands and is a bright girl, so training should be a breeze. She has recently learned to chase and retrieve a ball, and has started to enjoy swimming at the beach. When she's ready to play she will lick you until you give in to her and join her, and she loves to ride in the car.
She will bark occasionally to get attention or when a stranger is at the door, then will try to lick them to death once she knows them! She has a little quirk of sleeping upside down, which looks SO uncomfortable but she seems to love it. She can also rest her head all the way back to her bottom, she's extremely bendy!
Stella is an extremely loyal, obedient girl who has endless amounts of love to give. Her new home will need to be with people who treat her as a part of the family and include her in their everyday life.
Stella has spent most of her life living in a back yard with other dogs but since being in care she has learned how wonderful it is to be a part of someone's life and home. She has bonded very quickly to her carer, and can become a little anxious if her carer leaves her briefly. This anxiety is something that will need patience and possibly some work as Stella settles and bonds in her new home. For this reason we feel she would be best suited to an adult only family who have a lot of experience with dogs, and where someone is at home for most of the day or can take her to work with them. We think that she would also do well living with another similar sized dog for company.
Stella is a bright girl and we feel would respond well to training that would also give her the confidence she lacks. Stella would love a decent sized, secure yard to run around in.
If Stella sounds like the girl for you, please fill out and submit an enquiry and we will be in touch soon.
