About Odie 🧸
This adorable little boy is Odie....he's our 6 month old Black & Tan Frenchie, and an absolute stunner! During his time in care, Odie has spent time as an only dog and also had the company of an older French Bulldog for a period of time. Whilst he does love the companionship and playtime with his furry friends, he does need a calmer environment due to multiple Hemivertebrae's, so an only dog home would be ideal. That's not to say he can't have playdates with his doggie friends, but he would be best suited to a home where he wasn't constantly wrestling, tumbling and zooming around
with a partner in crime! This little boy gains the trust of his humans fairly quickly and once he does, he will follow you everywhere. Odie is fairly chilled and quiet and follows directions fairly well. He would need the company of his humans around and won't cope well being left on his own for long periods of time.
Odie is in care with a young baby and is very gentle around him. He has also been exposed to cats during his time in care and shown no interest in chasing or tormenting them. Toilet training is coming along well and unless he has a partner in crime, he's not one to get up to too much mischief. Odie enjoys snuggling up next to you (or on you) on the couch and is hoping for a home where he is very much a part of the family.
Despite their glum expression, the French Bulldog is comical and entertaining. They are quite stubborn and can be challenging to train, yet also surprisingly sensitive, remembers what they learn, and responds well to early, patient, persistent training that utilizes food motivation. Odie walks ok on lead but will need ongoing training in his new home to perfect this. He enjoys his outings whether that be walking or riding in the car.
Snorting, snuffling, and flatulence go with the territory of short-faced breeds. We recommend doing your research on the breed before choosing to own one, as they do come with a range of health issues and require certain needs.
Due to their 'screw' tails, they are susceptible to a condition known as 'hemivertebrae of the spine'. When hemivertebra is present in your dog’s tail, it typically is not an issue. When it is in their spine, it can lead to serious problems. The deformity of the vertebrae will lead to a twisting of the spine which can compress your dog’s spinal cord. Hemivertebra can be minor, where only one or two vertebrae have the deformity and the dog does not experience any clinical signs. In some cases, the dog will experience minor symptoms; in other cases, the condition will significantly impact the dog’s ability to function.
Odie has been tested for this condition and has 4 Hemivertebrae present, which is why he needs an experienced Frenchie owner and quieter home. Discouraging him jumping on and off the lounge and bed, constantly running up and down stairs and rough play will minimise the risk of any spinal issues. Please take into consideration, the French Bulldog is by no means an athlete or flyball champion! Any activities that involve twisting of the spine are not recommended.
Odie has also had Stenotic Nares surgery to allow improved airflow through the nostrils and also had his soft palate shortened during his Desexing procedure.
So if you've done your research and decided that this breed is for you, please send us an enquiry. Odie has had all his vet work completed and now ready to head off to his forever home. He is located in Erina on the Central Coast NSW.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
