About Gilroy
Hi my name is Gilroy.
The vet has told me I’m a mastiff x (probably cattle DOG .. Everyonr else has told me I’m very handsome.
I’m not yet two years old so I’m still bouncy and like to chew, my foster mummy makes sure I have chew toys available for me though and I’ve never chewed furniture or shoes! The car .... well I’m learning to be a good boy, so don’t chew that so much anymore.
I love my walks, I’m very strong so I have a special harness to slow me down. I have been off lead but only in certain situations like when I’m with my foster mummy playing ball in a secluded spot or at a special doggy beach where the other dogs play for a little bit but then go and do their own thing.
I do know how to heel, sit and stay, wait for my dinner and shake a paw but I must be with someone who can be consistent with me otherwise I get confused.
Everyday I’m getting better but I either tend to get over excited or fearful of other dogs, I just need help socialising with people and dogs in general. I think I might have been very traumatised when I was a puppy and my foster mummy had a special ‘dog person’ come work with me who thinks I was attacked, I think I might need the help of a ‘special dog person’ for a little while as they helped my foster mummy understand me better.
I love my cuddles and I love giving kisses, I will sit on the couch when I’m allowed and lay my head on your lap. I really need to be the centre of your world. I do get on with children and there are 6 in my house!! From nearly 3yrs up to 15 yrs.
I used to be protective of my teddy but now I seem to have lots of teddies to choose from (ok I steal them but I’m only playing).
I really enjoy going in the car and just being with my foster family when they go out places. I have sat in cafes and been really good, however I get anxious sometimes so we choose places that aren’t too crowded and the tables are a good distance away, we go to a special place that even gives me dog biscuits.
I think I’d prefer a home where it’s just me with a mum and / or dad that has energy like me or has an older child that can learn how to handle me with kindness but be firm. A family that has time to train me, play with me and snuggle with me.
My foster mummy says I’m too excitable and rough with her 3 other fur babies (she calls them cats I think they’re funny looking dogs), so I’m probably best not to go to a home with ‘cats’.
My foster mummy calls me a loveable goof ball.
Would you like cuddles and kisses and undying loyalty and love?
A sometimes couch potato to watch your favourite TV show with?
Someone to make you laugh and listen to all your problems?
If you invest in me I will give you all this and more ....
Sincerely Gilroy ❤️
