About Leroy. Melbourne
Handsome Leroy is loving his new life as a part of a human wolf pack. He has given all new experiences a go and really tries his best at everything. Ever since his very first taste of being told he was a good boy, and being congratulated with a “well done”, Leroy has been out to impress his foster parents. He loves to celebrate these little wins alongside his humans. His foster parents have already learnt that when Leroy loves you, he loves you hard.
Leroy is a patient boy, who understands he must wait quietly during walk time preparations. After he gets out his first few excited bounces, he will wait nicely as his coat and lead are put on.
Some of Leroy’s other favourite activities include “zoomies” from one end of the house to the other, running from foster mum to foster dad and back again. Leroy also loves chasing his tennis ball. He is a very bouncy, playful boy and we just know he’d love a house with a backyard, where he can run off all his extra energy.
Leroy can be quite boisterous with the smaller dogs he has met outside while walking – often trying to get right up close to say hello. He loves being the only dog in the house in his foster home and is very gentle with his foster parents.
Leroy has mild sleep aggression (quite common with greyhounds) and will growl if something outside or on the television wakes him up.
Leroy knows not to jump on the couch or bed in his foster home, but he will need very firm boundaries if this is to be kept up – it is his deepest desire to sleep on the couch.
Just in case you needed another reason to fall in love with Leroy, one of his most quirky habits is his love of bushes and shrubs that are swishy and soft. He loves to run head-first into rosemary bushes and smells delightful for hours afterwards.
Leroy has shown some signs of distress with small children (from afar, making loud noises) and other dogs. It is likely he would be best as an only dog.
Leroy has not been cat tested, so cat or small dog homes only please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
