About Max
My name is Max and I am a three year old Dutch Shepherd.
In some countries my breed are used for special training by police, security companies and rescue dogs. So I have a lot of energy. I really would like to to a home with acres cos I really enjoyed my foster carer's home, or a family that are very energetic and may be have an other large breed dog for a playmate.
My Soulmate has looked after me since I was three months old, and has given me some training in both English and Spanish. I can sit, drop, give 5, give 10, give me the ball and go out. He took a lot of time training me and I am still willing to learn more.
Unfortunately my Soulmate has some medical problems and isn't able to look after me any more, so I am looking for a good family with a big back yard because I like to run. I want to meet people who really understand about dogs and who want to give me more training to improve myself. Like how to walk with company and not to pull too much, how to manage with cats (I hate cats) but I am able to learn how to control myself. Also how to control myself when I see another dog walking on the street.
I used to go to the local park once or twice a week to walk around to tire me out, and I like to sniff everywhere then go home for a rest. I am not really good at playing with little dogs. If my owner calls Max come here I will them come back.
When I need love I sit down in between my owner's legs and I love having a massage to my head, shoulder and back, or I am on the floor waiting for my chest to be massaged.
I am a loyal dog and will protect my new family and follow you around and like to play all the time with my toys and balls.
If you think you can give me a new home please select the orange button and you will be sent an application form.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 and travel being restricted, we are only allowing our dogs be adopted in NSW or ACT.
Medical notes
Max is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
