About Diesel
Hi there, my name is Diesel and I am on the hunt for a very special home, at least that's what the ladies at the rescue tell me.
I was once scared and alone in a regional pound and my owners didn't come back to get me, so I don't understand what I did wrong. I then got to go a fun long van ride which was super exciting. I arrived in the big smoke to a new life.
I was feeling pretty confident with this new opportunity and lease on life, I was ready to make 2020 MY year, I was going to turn my life around and start a fresh. Like many of you out there, 2020 has not been what I envisioned. Not long after I arrived in care I had a vet visit there they did a test and also took some X-rays of my chest. Turns out I have something called 'heart worm', doesn't sound very nice at all. Apparently it could have been easily prevented but for most my life, I did not get the tablets to stop this nasty thing. At first I was very sad as I had to move foster carers to a new foster carer with no dog because I have to remain "calm" and my previous foster brother and I played too much.
HOWEVER, I love my new foster home, I am spoilt rotten and I get all the attention to myself! Well I do have a strange little furry housemate that barks funny and has sharp claws, he isn't keen on me... yet... I will change that and win him over with my personality like I do everyone else!
So I sat down with the ladies of the rescue to write a list of what my forever home needs. I am not going to lie, there was a lot of compromise due to my health. So here goes:
1. I need to be a spoilt only doggo OR have a mature quiet female doggy companion. This was a massive compromise because I actually LOVE dogs but I need to remain quiet and calm for up to a year.
2. A home that will continue my heart worm treatment that may take up to a year and understand that I can't over exert myself in that time.
3. Sturdy fencing, minimum 5 foot fencing. I haven't tried to jump a fence but they need to ensure I stay safe.
I am cat friendly when introduced gradually, but would require strict supervision to ensure I don't get too over excited when I attempt to play. I am good with kids and due to my age, older kids are preferred.
Do you have the love and the patience to take me on with my wonky heart issue, I am sure this issue will deter many. But all I can do is hope someone will look past that.
