About Rosie ~ 7 yr old staffy ~ Adopted 16/7/20
Rosie is a friendly 7 year old english Staffy whose energetic nature belies her age. This lovely and social girl is a people dog who adores her humans, she has big chocolate eyes that will melt your heart.
Rosie came to us as an unclaimed stray from the pound - she was not microchipped so her exact age and previous life are unknown. Since coming into care she has shown that she loves being the centre of attention so she would suit a home where she will be involved in her new families life and routine. She definitely won’t suit being an yard only dog as she wants to be with her people.
Rosie is a smart girl who is eager for praise and she loves to please you. She is learning some great manners since being in foster care and she has a staffy passion for food so is responding well to reward-based treat training (aka bribery).
Rosie loves walks twice a day and gets super excited at walk time - she pulls in excitement at first but once she's settled into the walk she's great on the lead. She's super affectionate and loves her human cuddles - she would be your shadow all day if she could! Rosie is learning to relax in foster care and is starting to realise that having some independent periods of alone time is rewarding too. She will take herself to bed for a nap during the day and is no longer a permanent fixture under her foster mums home-office chair!
Rosie knows her basic commands - she sits and shakes and like most excitable dogs she needs to practice Wait and Stay as life is too exciting to stay in one place too long.
Rosie is dog social and she is currently in foster care with two large male Rottweilers. She’s quite happy in their company - but she does rather think of herself as a person-dog so she prefers to spend her time being a human with you. If given the opportunity Rosie will hog all the human attention and lord it over the other dogs in the family - so her new family must keep a handle on this resource guarding behaviour and focus on Rosie’s sharing if they have another dog.
Rosie won’t suit first time dog owners or full-time workers - she requires a staffy loving family who will provide her with a routine , boundaries and an enriching lifestyle. She may be a great fit for semi-retirees or empty-nesters whose kids have flown the coop - a single person or couple who are keen to direct their energy and affection onto their newly adopted fur-child. She may also be a good match for a family with older teenage kids who are experienced with staffies - no toddlers or young children please as she could bowl them over.
For more information on this lovely bundle of staffy love that is Rosie, please contact us on email rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Rosie is in foster care near Tuggerah, NSW 2259 (Central Coast). Rosie is scheduled for desexing at the end of April so will be able to transition to her new home after she has healed from her surgery.
Rosie’s adoption fee is $300 and includes her desexing, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and microchipping. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Rosie is available for adoption at the start of May after she recovers from desexing.
