About Betty
This beautiful looking girl is Betty. A three year old Bloodhound cross, possibly with Beagle by the look of her markings.
Betty has a lovely nature, is good with children but is a bit unco and may knock little kids over in her enthusiasm. She has been hanging out with a Jack Russell so as far as we know she is also fine with other dogs.
OK so now some general scent-hound characteristics for you. If you've never owned scent-hound you'll need to know that they are bred to hunt, "nose down, tail up" says it all. So they need good fencing. Most of them cannot be let off-lead except of course in enclosed runs. A long lead works well to give your hound a bit more freedom.
Betty does love to run and explore so a biggish yard and regular walks to keep her stimulated are for this lovely dog. She will also need good fencing and not be left to her own devices for too long as she may get bored and decide to go walkies on her own.
Scent-hound may not be good with small pets either.
