Please note: Oscar does not want to live with a cat or another dog.

Oscar is affectionate, playful, and always excited to go on his walks.  He enjoys chasing / retrieving a tennis ball (for a short period), plays with a soft tug-toy on his back or throwing it in the air / kicking it with his feet, and relishes his night-time treat. Despite his enthusiasm for life, Oscar can be quite unsure around people until trust is established. He is wary of men, unsure of new experiences, and can be reactive to other dogs.  He has not had any exposure to children while in our care.

Oscar is house trained, walks fairly well on a lead and keeps a check on his person  as to where to go next, but still requires some further training.    He's getting quite good at stopping at curbs, and then crossing the road on the 'ok' command.

Oscar enjoys a belly / chest rub, a good scratch under his collar, and cuddles on the couch.  He'll let you know with his nose if he hasn't had enough.  He doesn't like human-food/treats, which is a good thing.

After three weeks with his foster family, he is beginning to let the male in the family pet him – on Oscar’s terms.   We believe there is a reason for this fear.

Oscar would benefit from training to build his confidence and lessen his anxiety; time spent with men to learn that he doesn't need to be afraid of them all; and exposure to new experiences in order to give him the full life he deserves.  His new owner will need to be patient as he settles into his new home, but with a little bit of work he will repay them tenfold with love.
