About Junior DL2422
Our sweet gent Junior has been through a lot of changes, so he may be a bit nervous, but once he warms up to you, he's very sweet and loving.
He is an inside dog, who loves to cuddle up in between blankets and sleep. He doesn’t know many other cues so will need you to continue his training, especially toilet training, as he does still have a few accidents in the house. He also needs help managing his ongoing medical conditions (see notes) and his itchy skin.
In the past month, he has learnt ‘Sit’ - he seems intelligent and is responsive to positive reinforcement using his favourite foods - cooked steak, lean fish, apple and salmon kibble.
While Junior is mostly mellow, he can get cranky at younger/higher energy dogs and may snap if he is suddenly patted on his lower back area by strangers, so would need slow, gentle introductions to all dogs and people.
He isn't comfortable being picked up, so is only suited to older family members 12yrs+ who can be very gentle and respect his space. He sometimes ignores cats, but has pulled towards other cats, he does seem to like to chase things (flies, birds) in fun.
He shows some separation anxiety, so would do best in a home where people are with him most of the time. He is not a big fan of water, but looks forward to car rides, and gets very excited about every single one of his walks every day.
He is a lovely old soul and deserves a comfortable retirement with people who are committed to his training and medical needs. He’ll be happiest where he can live every day close with his humans.
If you have the perfect retirement home for Junior, email DFL today to apply.
Medical notes
A senior dog at 8yrs+, Junior does have some ailments, including: Lipoma under front arm pit. Significant spondylosis in spine, requiring long term pain relief/anti inflammatories. Approximate cost for the medications would be $30-40 per month. Please contact our team for full details on Junior's medical needs.
