About Rory
Little Rory is a shihtzu x Pom Poodle.
5 years old
He is on the Gold Coast.
This little boy came to us over 6 weeks ago with extremely painful ears! He had fur balls of pus hanging from his ears!
We clipped him back and clipped the pus wads were removed to show infected red sore painful inner ears.
We started with drops and antibiotics but realised his little ears were blocked and he was in extreme pain, as he was lashing out in anticipation of us hurting his ears.
We had him sedated and found out the full story to his pain. Both of his eardrums had been perforated from the infection.
He is having daily visits to the vets to have his ears cleaned and drops put in. (Due to his fear reaction) to his carers approaching him with ear drops.
One ear has healed completely but the other one is taking a little longer.
We have decided to put him up and look for that special person that understands that when his ears have healed, it will be something that has to be checked at vets.
The condition of his ears was from a long period of neglect.
We have had him desexed and vaccinated as well as the ear issues.
We believe he would suit a dog free and kid free home.
He absolutely loves cats and he even hisses like a cat when he is stressed or upset.
Rory travels well in a car.
He is ok with dogs, but we think he would just love a home where he is No 1.
We have discussed with our vets if his ears will be an ongoing issue, and we have been told it would just be something that has to be monitored so he doesn’t get them in a state again.
He won’t be ready for another couple of weeks, but want to find that special home that are able to take care of his needs if they arise.
Medical notes
Has two perforated ear drums due to severe neglect.
Massive ear infections have caused this damage and we are 3/4 of the way through his treatment to rectify this neglect.
Adoption details
We shortlist and contact families who may fit the dogs needs. If indications are positive, normally after sleeping on it, a home check is organised, then an adoption agreement is completed, adoption donation (variable on account of age and health of individual dog) is transferred and the dog will become part of your family.
All our dogs have had a consultation with our vet, are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and treated for fleas. As we want every dog to be in its own family we try and fit dogs into forever homes, we don’t offer “Trials”. Naturally unforeseen circumstances arise occasionally where it’s preferable dogs come back to us as per our adoption agreement.
