ABOUT WILLOW
Hello! I'm Willow!
I would love to find a perfect family to finally settle with. My last family had some troubles figuring me out, and although they loved me (and I them) we just couldn't make it work. You see, they thought I was a greyhound. While my ancestors do have greyhound in them (where I get my elegant looks), I have other parts of me that mean lots of time indoors and crate training just didn't work (and actually really stressed me out!).
I'm a tracking dog. This means that I am always craving time outside, to sniff, explore, listen and learn. When in my element like this, I am very comfortable and independent. I can get lost in the sounds and smells of the wilderness, I get completely in the zone, which can sometimes mean I forget to listen. The rest of the time though, I always try to be a very good girl.
I will always do my best to make you happy, show you how much I love you by holding paws, and do as I'm told (even if that thing in the rubbish smells tasty). I know sit, down, shake, and stay, and I will also always make time for snuggles.
While the outside is where I have my fun, close to you is where I will feel at home. It may take me a little while to warm up to you, but please don't take it personally. I have not always been treated with kindness, and I like to know I can retreat if things get too much for me. If you are happy to let me come to you, we will be just fine. Once we have trust though, I will shower you with affection, nuzzling and snuggling, and in return I'd love some tummy scratches please!
I don't get so nervous meeting new dogs though, and find it helps me settle into a new place when I have a doggy friend to keep me company. Playing with other dogs makes me so happy. I love to bounce on, wrestle, run, chase, and leap right over them. Then at the end of the day, snuggle with them for a rest. So I'd really love a doggy brother or sister, and a big yard for us to explore and play in together.
It has been such a long journey, and I have lived in so many places, I would really love to find the perfect family to give me my forever home. Is that you?
BEHAVIOUR NOTES
Cat safe, but not afraid of hissing or growling kitty, so needs to be a cat that is happy to be friends.
Gets stir crazy if left inside without her people, so needs a nice secure yard.
Can leap quite tall fences, and is inclined to go search for you when you are gone.
Separation Anxiety
Willow is fearful of confined spaces, very cautious of men, and gets stressed home alone for long periods
Willow requires a canine friend and an owner who is home more often than not. Willow does better having the freedom of a secure backyard with a companion.
