About Ace ~ 18mo Cattle x Staffy (On Trial 09/04/20)
Hi! My name is Ace. I'm a good looking, approx. 18 month old Cattle x Staffy. I have Cattle colouring, but my personality is Staffy.
Grab a tissue because here is my backstory:
When I was a little pup, my mum told me that I would find a family that loved and adored me and treated me as part of the family but sadly, this did not happen for me. I had a family that did not love me, they yelled, screamed and abused me, did not feed me correctly and did not socialise me. Every night I would go to bed and promise to be an even better dog so that they would love me, day after day, the abuse continued and I became a sad, lonely and mistrusting dog.
I decided that one day I had enough so I ended up on the streets. The streets were tough and I ended up in fights with other dogs and scavenging for food. I did not trust anyone and I was sad, angry and lonely.
Socares found me, took me in and started my rehabilitation. It took a while for me to build trust with people, after all people have let me down all my life. Before Socares all humans had done was cause me sadness, pain and taught me to mistrust humans.
After a few months I went into foster care and I have enjoyed being in a home environment. I currently live with 5yo cattle Indy and 9mo Loki. Loki is my best mate we play for hours with the ball or tug-o-war with rope and swim in the shell pool. Loki has shown me how to be a pup and enjoy life. At first, I did not know that dog should play and have fun as I’ve never experienced this before.
I love the beach and the park now.
I would prefer older children in the house so they can read the signs when I need some time alone – sometimes when I’m overwhelmed I like to find a place and chill. Due to never being fed correctly I lack skills with eating, I sometimes snatch the treat out of your hand, with time and training I won’t do this.
I’m very excited when you come home from work and I will jump for pats and attention, usually after a few minutes I settle down. I'm just telling you I'm super happy you're home.
I will need someone that wants to work with me on some of my skills and I prefer another friendly dog at home, or someone working from home, as I love company. I like being inside, sometimes when my carers wake up I'm at the end of their bed sleeping.
It does take a bit of time for me to warm up to dogs and I prefer slow introductions with dogs. I love other dogs but due to my time on the streets I sometimes think dogs want to fight me, I'm slowly learning they we all can be friends.
I'm great on a lead, I love being in the car, I'm getting better at recall, I love chasing a ball and love water. I don’t bark a lot, and I'm not a digger or jumper, I do like balls and ropes that I can play with and chew on. I don’t jump fences but I do need secure fencing.
My wish list
- Family to continue on with training
- Another dog or someone at home most of the time
- Be allowed inside
- Lots of love and cuddles
- Never ever to be let down by humans
If you have had staffies before that would be great, as you will now all the love and attention I need.
