About Oprah
Meet Oprah.
As her name suggests Oprah is a confident and beautiful natured pup who loves being the centre of attention.
Oprah is both vision and hearing impared, not that you would know with how happy and confident she is.
Being a strong and confident girl, Oprah is not limited by her differences. She does everything that other dogs do, and will thrive with the right family.
Oprah will need a household with an adult med-large sized dog to show her the ropes, and be her eyes and ears to help her adapt to her new home.
Her new family must be committed to learning touch training to enable Oprah to thrive and become a wonderful confident dog.
We are looking for a special home to adopt Oprah (foster to adopt also considered for the right home). Her perfect home will have:
◇ Another young, friendly med-large dog
◇ Experience with sensory issues dogs, or be committed to researching and training Oprah using touch methods
◇ An established home that doesn't get changed around much as Oprah will memorise her environment and changes could result in injuries.
◇ Lots of positive socialisation with other dogs and people
◇ Attend puppy school training
◇ Ensure Oprah isn't limited because of her disabilities, but is included in family adventures to the beach, park, etc.
◇ Oprah may develop other health issues later in life due to the double merle gene, so her adopters will need to take that into consideration.
Oprah is Catahoula X Wolfhound so will grow quite big, please research these breeds.
Medical notes
Oprah is vision and hearing impacted so will need an owner who is committed to training her using touch methods. She may develop other double merle gene related issues.
Vet check has shown no issues with hips, heart and knees.
