About Ellen
Meet Ellen.
As her name suggests Ellen is a beautiful natured lass who loves being the centre of attention and bringing joy to others.
Ellen is the runt of her litter, and also lucked out being both vision impaired and deaf.
Being a strong and confident girl, Ellen is not limited by her differences. She will do everything that other dogs do, just in her own way with a dedicated family by her side.
Ellen will love a household with a friendly adult med-large sized dog to show her the ropes, and be her eyes and ears to help her adapt to her new home.
Her new family must be committed to learning touch training to enable Ellen to thrive and become a wonderful confident dog.
We are looking for a special home to adopt Ellen (foster to adopt also considered for the right home).
Her perfect home will have:
◇ Another young, friendly med-large dog
◇ Experience with sensory issues dogs, or be committed to researching and training Ellen using touch methods
◇ An established home that doesn't get changed around much as Ellen will memerise her environment and changes could result in injuries.
◇ Lots of positive socialisation with other dogs and people
◇ Attend puppy school training
◇ Ensure Ellen isn't limited because of her disabilities, but is included in family adventures to the beach, park, etc.
◇ Please note Ellen may develop other health issues due to the double merle gene, so her adopters will need to take that into consideration.
Ellen is Catahoula X Wolfhound so will grow quite big, please research these breeds.
Medical notes
Ellen is blind and deaf due to the double merle gene and may develop other gene related issues.
Heart, hips and knees show no issues.
