About Rio
Hello potential new family! My name is Rio and I’m a nearly 4 year old Chihuahua x
I am that stage in life where I love to have a play and then I love to have a nap!
I absolutely love getting outdoors, exploring the world and smelling everything that it has to offer. However, my lead walking skills do requite a little improvement, so I need a family with time and patience, that is willing to help me learn.
Now (I’m sorry, but it’s important) for the serious stuff. I am not great around little boys (2 - 6 years old) and as such would probably prefer a family without young boys - I am scared of them due to a incident in my past).
Also because of my high energy and love for my hoomans, sometimes, I like to walk and run around your feet in the house, which may cause you to trip or stand on me - For this reason, I don’t think I’d be suited to an elderly home. The last thing I’d want to do is make you fall and hurt yourself or maybe even me.
On that note, I think I’d be great for a family with older children or a professional couple where someone works from home and i can be part of the team!
Okay, time for the last serious note. I may mark when i first arrive at your house (due to just being desexed) but i promise i don't mean too and i'm working on it!
I get along great with other dogs and enjoy saying hello to my fellow dog friends
I'd love to be your new best friend!

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
If applying to adopt one of our furbabies over the age of 6 months we recommend that you bring to the meet and greet any of your furbabies to see how they interact.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 2 week trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 2 week trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby.
