About Houdini
Houdini presented as a stray at around 5 weeks of age, he was skinny, and extremely terrified and untrusting of people. He was quite thin and covered in prickles. The carer took him home with another kitten and thus began his journey.
A few months into his fostering the carer noticed a clicking on his hind left leg and he was limping on it. On presentation with a vet they confirmed the clicking and diagnosed him with luxating patellas (dislocation or movement of the knee caps). This is not as common in cats as it is with dogs and given it was both his knees and no known history of trauma the likely conclusion was it is a congenital issue (meaning he was born with it). He was seen by a specialist who performed surgery on his knees. This surgery involved tightening up outside of joint and loosening the inside to try and stabilize the patella and prevent it from luxating anymore.
He has come a long way in regards to his fear of people and is learning to trust. Houdini very inquisitive and loves exploring but equally he loves affection and purrs so loudly when you give him cuddles. He likes being picked up, loves to sit with his humans on the couch, and adores a good chin scratch! Tuna is his favourite treat, and he loves to play with the mouse on a string toy. He thinks an ice cube is the best kind of toy to bat around the house and is super interested in water. He is a beautiful looking cat, so very cute and his little squeak for a meow is just the icing on top.
Houdini is a special needs cat who will need to be kept at a healthy weight his entire life to ensure no excess force is put onto his joints and will need to be kept solely indoors to ensure he is monitored and doesn't injure himself. There is a potential he may need revision surgery at some point in his life, it is also expected that he will have early onset of arthritis, so this will need to be monitored closely. In saying all of that he is so full of life and loves running and jumping around the house and on the car scratching post. Houdini doesn't let any of this effect him and loves life to the fullest. He would do well in a home with older children or adults, and will only be adopted to a home with kitty friend who can provide him with snuggles and playtime, and help his confidence grow. If you don't have a kitty at home already but are super keen on Houdini, we may be able to pair him up with another of our kittens for a double adoption. Are you the family for Houdini? Can you give him the love and space to grow and become a confident cat? if yes, submit an enquiry now!
Houdini is a healthy raw fed teenage kitten who's been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated and microchipped (microchip #956000010863490, source #RE101165). He is available for adoption right now!
