But it hasn't always been this way, I'll tell you my story.

I was found on someones back verandah, they took one look at me and took me to the pound. I was swollen all around my head, including my eyes, I had horrible scabs all over me and most of my hair was missing. I was in so much pain,
I felt so sick I wanted to die. The vet saw me in the pound and said I had infected mange, they started me on some medicines to make me feel better.

I was visited by the SAFE ladies but I didn't want to look at them because I didn't want to hear anyone say ""go away"" again. I really didn't know what was going to happen to me and I didn't really care. When one of the ladies came back she spoke very softly to me and said ""come on, come with me"". She took me in her arms regardless of the smell and scabs (and boy did I stink) and took me to her house. She named me Opal because it's a symbol of hope.

I was given a lovely soft bed to lie on and I looked at what was happening around me for a while. When the lady filled the bath with water I hopped in to that tub happily, I like water and it was cool and made me feel so much better. Even with gentle hands and special shampoo it hurt so much I couldn't help crying, so the next time I had some medicine to help with the pain. I still wouldn't look at her because I felt so ugly and thought I was not special at all. She took my
face in her hands and lifted my head so I had to look at her. She had tears in her eyes, she told me how beautiful I was as she rubbed oil all over my face. She does this beauty treatment two times a day to make my skin soft again. My own private beauty salon.

I'm still here, I get yummy food; I have a doggy sister who I love to play with; I have two foster dads and a little human brother who I love and of course my foster mum. Now they all tell me I'm beautiful and I love the soft hands that pat me and show me love. I'm not swollen anymore and my hair is growing back. Mum says I'm like a chubby wobbly toddler learning about the world around me.

I'm getting ready to find my new family, I'd like someone to carry on with my training, I'm very clever and I love to learn new things. But most importantly I want to be loved and cherished as I have been here.
