About Hamish ~ sweet Cattle x puppy (On trial 25/3/20)
Bold and mischievous puppies don't come much cuter than this little black and white barrel of fun! Hamish the Cattledog pup is sweet and confident and struts the yard like a boss. He has super soft fur and loves a cuddle, but when the mood takes him, he pounces and is all kinds of cheeky. Hamish is coming up to 8 weeks old and will be ready for adoption from the 5th of March.
Hamish was born in care and his mum is a beautiful Cattle cross girl, who was still just a baby herself. She gave us a lucky dip of colours in her 9 pups so the father/s breed are anyone's guess. You could hazard a guess at a Border Collie for Hamish, but Staffies also have this colouring. We think he will grow to be on the large side of medium as his paws are quite big. He loves his big foster sister who patiently tolerates him biting tails and ankles and lips. He also thinks a good rumble with his sister is great. He could quite easily be an only dog though as he is confident and potters with rope toys in his mouth and entertains himself with balls.
To give any pup the best chance at a happy and healthy life, it is imperative to provide them with effective socialisation. Not just with other dogs, but to the sights, smells, sounds and movements of the outside world. Puppy school is great, but more important are adolescent training classes teaching appropriate manners, boundaries and coping skills around other dogs and people.
Hamish will need a decent sized yard to run and play with secure 5ft fencing and gates and an undercover area for shade and shelter. He also sleeps inside and should do until he is older. He can happily be adopted to a family with kids and will love to grow with them, we just ask that they are respectful and educated about his needs and boundaries too. He will need 4 meals a day until 12 weeks old, then 3 meals a day till 16 weeks old, so time at home with him will also be required.
For more information about Hamish, please contact his carer Lauren at hitthesand@hotmail.com . Hamish is in the Port Stephens area, NSW (north of Newcastle). You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
Hamish’s adoption fee is $550 and includes his desexing, vaccinations and microchipping and he's been treated for fleas and worms.
As Hamish is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he'll need to be returned to our vet for desexing when he's approximately 5 months old.
Hamish’s sister Prim is also up for adoption.
