Drake is a beautiful natured dog with so much love to give.
Personality: Cuddly, intelligent but clumsy, opportunistic and always happy to explore the kitchen for food!
Social: Playful in a goofy way. Loves playing with his 4 year old kelpie foster sister. When meeting other dogs on lead, Drake barks and gets overly excited, however once introduced he is very social.
Drake has been socialised with toddlers and children and has proven to be very gentle. He has been exposed to a busy school yard environment and has been very tolerant of many pats from little people.
Training: Can lie calmly for food, can sit, can use the doggy door and has started to walk calmly on a lead. Drake will continue to require socialising with other dogs and will benefit from regular training.
Toilet trained: Yes. Drake currently has access to outside via a doggy door.
Loves: Cuddling, lying on people and being in the company of his human family. Drake also loves squeaky toys, his blue teddy, walks and tummy rubs.
Sleeping habits: Sleeps inside on his bed, all through the night.
Health: Drake requires calcium supplements (in the form of powder added to his meals) for another 3-4 months to encourage strong ligament and bone development.
Food: Eats calmly and has a great appetite. Drake is VERY food orientated. If any food is left around the house consider it fair game and it will be gone in minutes.
Smaller creatures: shows no aggression towards cats, although is very interested in chasing and playing with the resident cat if the opportunity arises.
Quirk: Loves to eat raspberries straight off the bush.
Requirements: Drake will need a family where the living arrangements are consistent and stable. Drake will do well in an environment where there are people around often and where he will be included in family outings. He will suit a home either on his own or with another dog provided that the dog is tolerant of uncoordinated puppies that are still learning to socialise.
A word from Drakes carer: My heart broke when I first met Drake, a large skinny and malnourished puppy that wanted affection but was very cautious of his surroundings and the people in it. With encouragement and love, Drake has proved to be a wonderful dog, who follows us anywhere and who keeps us company all day long. A dog like Drake is like finding gold, you couldn’t ask more in a puppy.
