About Barty
Introducing BARTY, a kelpie/red cattle dog mix male born on or around 19 December 2019.
Time spent with Barty is an absolute joy. He's an affectionate and playful chap, who was adopted from us when he was just a pup.
Unfortunately, due to a change in family circumstances and through no fault of his own, he is back with ARK and looking for a new home and family to call his own.
With his beautiful white coat and underlying spots and speckles, plus a black nose, he is an eye-catching chap and guaranteed to attract attention when he's out and about. He weighs about 30 kgs.
His mum was a kelpie x red cattle dog, but we do not know the breed of his dad, but suspect he had a good dollop of Catahoula or Dalmatian in his genes.
Feedback from his foster mum is as follows: "Barty is a real sweetheart, gets on with all the other dogs, even the little ones, isn't food aggressive, sits on command, does like to get in your face a little bit but that's only because he is still so young, all in all he is a great dog, also loves playing in the water in the shell pool."
Barty will make a fine addition to an active family. He'll need plenty of exercise and stimulation, particularly in his early years, but you will be rewarded with a loyal, robust and loving family dog.
Barty lived with cats as a pup, but has had limited exposure since then. He is dog-friendly.
Secure fencing is essential. Preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time and/or there is another dog for Barty to play with.
His adoption fee is $550 each and he is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
