About Willy
Sweet Willy is pretty much the best cat in the world.
He's a gentle, smoochy, loving, friendly, affectionate, tidy, litter-trained, love-bug.
Willy has had a pretty rough time lately and he's now looking for the most amazing home ever to give him a cushy life.
Willy comes from the regional town of Wiluna, some 760km North-East of Perth. There are no veterinary facilities in the town so when Willy was mauled by two dogs, help wasn't readliy available. Some kind members of the community picked him up and temporarily cared for him before handing him over to the ranger who services the town. He was then transported all the way to the pound in York (quite the journey!) before coming into our care.
We were pretty concerned when we first met Willy - he could hardly stand up and wouldn't weight bear on either his front or back right legs. At first we feared at least one of his legs was broken but it turned out that he had massive swelling and oedema, and lots of soft tissue injury.
Willy underwent surgery to relieve the swelling and fluid that was built up around his hip and spine. He had antibiotics and anti-inflammatory pain relief.
In addition to his injuries, Willy was carrying a whole host of nasty parasitic stowaways - he had ticks, fleas, earmites and worms! On the first night he arrived, despite being in considerable pain, he lay patiently while we picked all the visible bugs off his face and ears.
Throughout every moment he has been in our care - whether being poked and prodded, medicated or cleaned - Willy has been an absolute gentleman. All he wants is to be loved non-stop.
Willy must go to an INDOOR-ONLY home.
Aside from his pale colouring making him vulnerable to sun damage/skin cancer, he deserves an environment where he is pampered all day long.
He is also going to be prone to developing early arthritis in his right hip which sustained most damage. His new family will need to be committed to keeping him at a healthy weight so that his joint isn't under unnecessary pressure.
Willy is wonderful with other cats. He would be happy with a feline companion.
Despite his experience, he actually seems quite comfortable around dogs who are calm and gentle. If you have an easy-going, cat-social pooch, this won't be a problem.
Willy isn't bothered by the noise or attention of small children either.
This guy is an absolute catch.
His adoption fee is $100 and he is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
If you are looking for the best cat ever, look no further!
