About Gracie
Hi! I'm Gracie, a newbie in the SAFE program. I'm deaf but once you have my attention with eye contact, I'm easy to train with sign language. There are some extra precautions to take with me because I'm deaf. And there's a bit of effort on your part as you'll need to learn how to live with a deaf dog, but soon it will be second nature to you and we'll develop an amazing bond.
I've just moved into my foster home, so there'll be info coming about my personality soon. I've been vet checked and now I'm ready for a permanent home. I'm also getting a professional photoshoot done soon so you'll be able to see how gorgeous I really am!
Here's a link to a website that describes the special considerations for living with a deaf dog http://deafdogs.org/training/ and there are great videos from Deaf Dogs Rock on YouTube too. The two most important things to note are
teaching me and others how to prevent a startling reaction
ensuring my safety at home and when we're out and about
I CAN FLY TO PERTH!
Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to you in Perth.
