About Pepper - A Wonderful Family Dog
Pepper gets on with male dogs, can be a bit bossy with females. She is a very social dog and would love to have a male friend to play with. She is fine with kids and likes her owner to be someone who is home alot, she has been around toddlers often and will put up with poking and prodding and tail pulling with a big smile on her face. She doesn't jump fences, but if she gets out she may come when she called it just depends on what she has spied. Like all cattle dogs, she will do what comes naturally, she rounds other dogs up and playfully bites their heels but was taught from very early on not to nip people, even in play. She is currently in a yard with seven other dogs with out any problems. She doesn't like when the bats fly over in the afternoon, she will run around barking. I have had an animal trainer in a few times and she says its because she's frightened of the hordes of bats that fly over ahead at dusk. . Pepper has grown up being an indoors/outdoors dog that sleeps inside. Once she is inside and settled down with the family she is very quiet and content to fall asleep on her bed. The only times she has barked while indoors is if there has been someone in the yard or around the house that shouldnt be. Pepper easy to bath and will sometimes go for a swim if the water is calm and not too deep. She runs up and down the beach barkin at the waves and chasing them. She loves trotters, tennis balls, tug o wars, sticks to chew, raw chicken wings, devon (as a training reward), bones, she loves going for a drive in the car, and for walks on a quiet beach. Pepper gets nervous around a lot of strange people, she does not like crowds. She will make friends with other dogs in the dog park or out walking. Pepper loves having a cuddle on the lounge, and if you say "wheres my cuddlegirl?" she will put her nose under you chin and snuggle up. She tries to sneek under the blankets when she thinks your asleep. She helps herself to your bed in the middle of the night. She is house trained but has the occasional accident if she cant get out in time. Pepper is such a beautiful natured dog and ideally should go to a home with children and somewhere she can be an indoors dog, and very much part of the family. She hates lawnmowers and whipper-snippers, has tried to bite a chainsaw before so best to have her indoors when using motorised gardening equipment. She likes coming 4x4ing and would be fine to take camping, but would need to stay on a long line, as she likes to investigate by herself
she hasn't been around livestock before but would be a natural cattle herder and a very quick learner
she loves going for walks or drives in the car but gets spooked easily the first few times in new areas, but she overcomes that with some encouragement and devon treats
if you are looking for a family dog maybe pepper is the dog for you?
