About Zelda
😻 Why we rescue 😻
My name is Zelda and I want to tell you a story which is a sort of a miracle. I am now 2 years old and I have spent almost my entire life in a Queensland Pound. I ended up there when I was only a few months old. How and why I did not find rescue or indeed meet the end of the road as many others have, remains a mystery to all who have come across my story.
In the latter half of last year I managed to find myself in a van with many other lucky cats and dogs heading to Brisbane after being "rescued" I was utterly petrified as I knew no other life than being in a cage. Well I was still in a cage but this was different. All the humans were happy and so caring of us all, and one by one the van was emptied as the animals went to their rescuers. I was one of the last ones out and by this time with all the happenings around me I was very afraid.
There were lots of other cats and dogs at my new place. I went back into hiding as soon as I could. I hid in a wardrobe or under a bed and didn't want anything to do with anyone - humans or animals. At first I would only come out in the dark to eat and I would eat it all so quickly that I often made myself sick. I was scared to be found out in the open and also scared that someone else would eat all the food and there would be none left for me.
I soon realized that the dish was never empty as it would miraculously be refilled. This was different than what I was used to. I started sneaking out when the lights were on and watched from afar as the other animals interacted with the human. She did not hurt them. Wow, a place where the dish was always full and everybody was friendly. It was not immediate and took a lot of patience and love, but I am now ready to move on to the rest, and best part of my life.
I am now happy to have humans scratch, and even cuddle me and my foster mum says she is so proud of me and how far I have come. She says that I am "special" and promises to find me a home where I will always be treated like the Princess that I am.
