About Beau
We would like to introduce you to Beau who is a big and beautiful 20 month old Maremma, please keep reading as there is a lot to know about this special boy.
Beau came into rescue due to no fault of him own, he has known love since he was a pup and is obedience trained, he's got the sit and shake down pat! Unfortunately having to leave his people has not been easy on him and he takes time in any new environment to feel secure and accepting, once he does he is a happy and friendly boy who loves games of chasey and playing with his soft toys. Sleeping on beds is pretty darn good too.
It is for this reason we are seeking out a quiet home for Beau where he can bond with a small group of people in his home. He is going to take time and so a patient and caring home is of utmost importance. Due to Beau's unpredictable nature when he is first settling into a home he is not suited to a home with children and we will not be considering applicants with family members under the age of 18 years.
Beau loves other dogs, he loves nothing more than hanging with other dogs and playing so we have decided a furry friend in his new family is a must, in his current foster home he has a smaller sister who he loves but she isn't too keen on games, we would love to find him a sibling who is the playful type. Beau also seems to be pretty darn good with critters of other varieties too, playing no mind to the bird in his current foster home and displaying positive responses when he met two miniature horses.
Please make sure you have done your research on Maremma sheepdogs before applying for Beau. They are a very handsome breed of dog but are a dog that requires a dedicated and knowledgeable handler. As their job is to protect they are known barkers so it is important any potential adopters are happy to accept this, they are also not readily accepting of strangers, preferring the company of those they know well, if you are a social family with regular visits and are wanting a dog that can participate in those then Beau is most likely not the dog for you.
In summary we would love to find Beau a quiet home with some space to run and a playful doggy friend, as well as a quiet family that are prepared to take things slowly with Beau while he learns to trust his new family. In return you will get a most handsome boy who has a load of love to give, will make you laugh, demand pats with the shove of a nose and be a loyal protector of his property and people.
