About Marlou
Marlou had an owner she loved very much, and he loved her in return. Unfortunately he had to relocate overseas permanently and Marlou was given to a family member to care for. The family member was fine but their big bouncy overly friendly dog was an issue for this quiet little individual and she did not cope well at all. The family member tried to find someone to take Marlou, with no luck so reluctantly he surrendered her to the pound.
Cat People of Melbourne received an urgent call asking us to take her into foster care, as she had what can only be described as a nervous breakdown. She was ok for a week, but one day they came in and found her scrabbling around in the cage very distressed, covered in her own faeces and having ripped her all her nails out. The pound attendant said she hadn't ever seen anything like it before, and they were all very upset for Marlou. She went to the vet and was treated, given painkillers and calming medication which helped a little, but it was decided foster care was what was needed and she came to us on Christmas Eve.
Marlou spent the first couple of weeks in a wardrobe barely moving and hardly eating. Slowly she came around and started to gain confidence, her meds helped as did the quiet environment. Five weeks later Marlou is putting on weight and condition, hanging out on the catio enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, and is beginning to enjoy life again. She loves a brush and gentle stroking, adores her food and doesn't mind sitting in your lap for a cuddle.
Marlou still has a nervous twitch and we think she'll always be this way, it's just part of her now. She's like that nervous aunty that has 'vapours' at the oddest things, it's weird but it's also adorable.
Marlou has the sweetest rumbliest purr when she's stroked and brushed, and would be a lovely low maintenance feline companion for someone who wants to share their quiet life with a very special sweet cat like her. If you're looking for love and adore a ginger, Marlou is the girl for you... click that enquire here button and let's introduce you two!
Marlou is a healthy raw fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #953010004196420, source #EE101165). We're hoping to get her a dental very soon, and she may Zylkene supplements from time to time, for her nerves. She is available for adoption right now!
