About Zeus
Hi, my name is Zeus. I am 7 years old and I am looking for my forever family. I will give you all of my love, and I look forward to getting lots of love back from you. I will be your shadow, because I just want to be with my human. Also when you are sitting, I will love to sit and snooze on your lap. Some of my favourite things, apart from being with my human and eating my dinner are: to sit on a lovely soft cushion on a couch near you, to have a little game with a soft toy, and to potter around the garden. One of my big wishes is to have a plush soft bed to sleep in. And if you are ever going to leave the house, I am very happy to travel in the car with you. I would love a work from home person or retired person.
I used to be a full-time outside dog and I didn’t like that. Because of this I had difficulty with my house training and in a new environment I will have accidents, I have been in my current foster home for two months and for the last three weeks I have had no accidents, so I do expect I will take time again to learn in a new place. I have had three foster homes, so I am going to take time to realise this is my forever home. It wasn’t my fault, they all loved me but unfortunately two of my foster carers had to unexpectedly move house, so I went to my current foster home. I did have a cat in one of my foster homes and I pretty much ignored it as well.
Something in my past has happened to make me not trust humans, so I like to keep a safe distance, but I still love lots of pats and cuddles. I just have to build some trust with my humans. I am scared of sudden movements and unexpected loud noises, so a home that is quieter and doesn’t have lots of noisy visitors would be good for me. CRQ won’t let me go to a home with children due to this, please don’t apply and be disappointed as they won’t change minds about that. Thunder is a scary thing for me, so at night I would love you to let me snuggle in bed when it’s stormy. Men scare me, I would really love being the only man in the house, but if you have a kind patient one who realises I could take a long time to be comfortable with them around and I will bark at them as I am scared, I will consider that.
I like to have a little space set up so I can go to it if need be to feel safe and secure. At the moment I have my night time bed in a crate and I am pretty happy with that. I will retire to it when I am ready for bed and I also use it as my safe space if ever the humans get too loud for me.
I am happy to be an only dog and be the centre of your attention, but I am also happy to join your pack. I want to play with other dogs, but I am still learning how to do that.
While I am more on the timid side, I do have a lovely personality. I’ve heard it said that I am a “good boy” around the house. When I get up in the morning, sometimes I like to sphinx it around the carpet for a little bit. It’s my dog yoga. When we are together, I will amuse you with some of my funny faces - I am great at smiling. I have a heart as big as a racehorse, and some say I am very very good looking.
The pleasures and freedoms of life are opening up for me now and I am looking forward to discovering more of them and enjoying them with my beloved forever home. So please read my medical notes further down, make sure you read all my profile and send in an enquiry or fill out an expression of interest in me. :-)
Medical notes
Zeus has had his dental work all done across two surgeries and had approximately 13 extractions. He still has plenty of teeth and it doesn’t cause him any issues with eating. We would recommend an annual dental check up to ensure his remaining teeth stay healthy.
He also came to us with bilateral Grade 3 patella luxation and has now had both repaired. His right knee was repaired in September 2019 followed by two months of rest, and then his left leg surgery was done in November 2019. He has now fully recovered and running around, however we would recommend he stay on a joint support as these dogs are more prone to arthritis as they age. He currently has Paws Osteocare Joint Chews, but there are many types of joint support on the market.
All Chihuahua Rescue Queensland dogs are desexed, vaccinated and microchipped. We test all our dogs for heartworm and treat them with regular parasite prevention.
