About Slim Shady. Cheeky as fook!
* Slim is looking for a foster home and available for Foster-with-view-to-adopt. Please contact us for info 😍
------------------------------
For Slim, snuggling is an extreme sport; once picked up he snuggles into your neck or shoulder with all his might!
Head bonks to your leg are also an extreme sport; he will line you up from some distance and come at you with his head already tilted and bonk it into your leg full force.
In our shelter he likes to sleep on a mobile speaker his favourite volunteer listens to music through and then attack it when he decides the tunes are too bassy.
As he has access to the hallway of our shelter, he regularly steals toys from under the doors of our large pens.
He also like to poke cats from under pen doors.
He occasionally falls from a trolley in the hallway into the bin.
Yep, that's our Slim :)

Slim is one of those cats you'll sleep with, hang with and laugh with for many years to come. He'd prefer to be an only pet and soak up all your love, and needs to be an inside only cat (see below). He's cheeky and will play nip so may not be right for a family with young kids but cat savvy teens would be fine. Or a couple with at least one partner working from home as he'd love to just hang with you all day, doing something funny in your peripheral vision every so often to get your attention 😆
Medical notes
* Slim is FIV positive however please don't click off his profile on reading this! Its important to understand what FIV means, its nothing like the stigma it has in the cat adoption field and is an unnecessary (and heartbreaking) barrier to amazing cats finding forever homes :(
How cats contract FIV:
FIV is ONLY transferred via deep bite wounds where the FIV cat's saliva and the other cat's blood mix this means there has to be a serious fight for transference to happen. For this reason, Slim should be kept as an inside cat to avoid the chance of a roaming male seeing him as a threat and starting a punch on :)
FIV and health:
Many of our team members own FIV cats and find that a quality dry food and occasional vet visit is suffice to keep these guys healthy. As long as they're vaccinated and aren't exposed to ongoing new cats which could be carrying various illnesses, there's no reason an FIV cat would be any less healthy than a non FIV cat :)
Please contact us if you have any questions about this or would like to discuss our gorgeous boy fitting into your home safely :)

Some more info about us:
Sunny Days began in 2017 and runs a self funded rehab shelter for stray cats in Lara, halfway between Melbourne and Geelong, Victoria.
90% of the animals rehomed through Sunny Days are rescued and rehabilitated ‘true stray’ cats; cats who’ve grown up wild, with very little or no experience with humans. To our knowledge there is no other rescue group or shelter in Australia specialising solely in the medical and psychological rehabilitation of stray and feral cats.
Our aim is to rescue, humanely rehabilitate and appropriately rehome cats and kittens who would otherwise be ignored, hit by cars, baited, euthanised or die alone of illness or hunger. We see each cat as an individual, requiring it's own individualised rehoming program and the right type of home for their level of rehab and temperament. We also provide support to local cat owners who require assistance to desex and provide a safe home for their cat, and actively work with the community, vet clinics and other industry professionals to decrease the stray cat problem.

We are currently registered as company limited by guarantee and in the process of getting our our Not for Profit status so we can apply for philanthropic funding, along with a Domestic Animals Business permit to make our facility a registered pound/shelter.
Although we don’t officially have non profit status we actually run at a loss due to the type of animals we take in - mostly terrified cats who need months if not years of care, and often hundreds more in medical treatment than we can adopt them out for. And that’s not including our shelter running costs of about $1600 p/month. We fund this excess out of our own pockets because we believe the cats deserve a chance. If you could help us cover some of these costs we’d be hugely grateful! Please see below for ways you can contribute <3
* A once off, or small monthly transfer to our account below to assist us with shelter running costs and medical care. Account: Sunny Days / 063512 / 10988226.
Via Paypal: PayPal.Me/sunnydaysfundraising.
* A cash donation in person at our shelter or via one of our team members. Please contact us to be sent a list of trustworthy team members’ locations.
* By purchasing an order of wet food from Coles online, or dry food from PetCircle, and having it delivered to our shelter. Please contact us for details.
