About Sid ~ 10yr Red Cattle ~ Adopted 26/4/2020
Meet Sid a 10 year old Red Cattle Dog x. Sid would love to be your faithful companion! He is suitable for a full time worker because he's fine home alone. He's a great walking buddy.
He loves his morning walk. He's not interested in toys or games but loves to play and have a good tummy rub. His comes when called but he hasn’t been tested off lead. He is a sweet, affectionate, undemanding companion.
Sid is not an escape artist. He never attempted to dig or climb rural mesh fencing. He is not a nuisance barker. He is at his happiest just spending time with his humans. He needs to be an only dog, and not suitable to children under 16.
Sid is house trained and needs to be allowed inside when people are home and to sleep inside. He isn't suitable to live with cats or small pets because they're fun to chase. He is frightened when other dogs get too close to him on walks and he tells them in no uncertain terms to stay away. Sid is receiving training to help him feel more comfortable around other dogs. He needs an owner who is understanding and kind and will not punish him for getting frightened. He's very nice to walk if you're willing to be flexible and avoid other dogs getting close to him. He is such a perfect dog in every other way we think he is worth accommodating him in this way. The trainer working with Sid is happy to advise you.
Sid runs and moves smoothly, so you'd never know it, but he has some arthritis. He is on a small daily dose of Meloxicam anti-inflammatory liquid, which is inexpensive and easy to syringe onto his food. It doesn’t restrict him in any way at all. He’s not on any special diet, just dry dog food, and loves a bone now and then to keep his teeth clean. He loves treats, which makes him easy to train. He's a very healthy, happy boy. You'd never know that he is technically a senior citizen.
Sid's ideal home would be with a gentle single person or couple, without children or other pets, confident with dogs, and want a companion to love and spoil.
