About Petra
Petra the poodle x is a cheeky, fun and cuddly girl with a tongue that will manage to lick your eyeballs quicker than you’ll be able to react!
Petra is cool and lazy and loves being in the human bed to rest at all hours of the day and she must have access inside always. She is a nervous dog, having never known the human world but takes things in her stride quite easily when she’s with a human she trusts. She is easily won over with food and even does a brief zoomie at meal times! Petra can be a bit cheeky, and does try to reach food that isn’t her own (namely the human food from bench tops and table tops), but doesn’t show any signs of resource guarding. She just loves to share, whether you’re willing to or not. She can also jump quite high, so vigilance is needed to train her out of these cute but unwanted habits.
Petra would suit a quiet family with no children or older, calm children. She MUST go with another friendly confident dog. Petra needs consistent routines and training to bring out her full potential so experience with nervous dogs is preferred and one that will continue her daily socialisation in the outside world.
Her new owner must be prepared to brush her coat daily and have her professionally groomed every two months to keep her fit in tip top condition.
Petra is house trained, good with cats. Petra's new home will, of course, be another new environment so should be prepared to do some initial work with her to set her up to succeed with housetraining in the new environment.
Petra has a tendency to stand on other dogs backs to get to what she wants so as such would not be suitable to go with a senior dog.
Overall Petra is a sweet girl with a heart of gold. She will need an owner willing to put plenty of hours of gentle and positive socialisation to bring her to her full potential.
PLEASE NOTE WE DO N0T HAVE AN APPLICATION FORM. If you think you can offer Petra the home and support she needs to continue her development then please email us with as much information on the home you are can provide Petra including your other pets, children etc and detailing your previous experience working with nervous dogs.
