About Buddy
Hi I’m Buddy! I’m a happy and friendly 10 month old gold Labrador . When I first came into care I was just like a big kid as unfortunately in my previous home I did not receive much training. I wanted to love everyone so much that I could easily get over exuberant jumping on people if allowed to in my excitement to get as close as possible to them:) My foster family has been working hard with me and they say I have come such a long way from where I was in only a few months.
They now feel I am ready to begin the search for a family of my own. My foster family say I would thrive living with someone who has the time and patience to continue with my training and provide me with a stable and consistent environment. My foster family is happy to provide some tips on what has worked for them in their environment.
I love playing, either with toys, my foster Labrador brother or my foster family. Being young and still a pup I still like to get into mischief if left on my own for too long. A home with another young confident and friendly large size dog that likes to play, play, play would be ideal and one that would be a role model for me to follow.
Since living with my foster family I have been learning better manners, such as to sit and wait for my food. I still get a bit over excited to see other dogs when on leash, mainly because everyone is my new friend and potential playmate but I do walk on a loose lead most of the time, especially on my way home when I am tired.
They must also have the time to walk me every day as I am very active and would love a home where I would get to go the beach as you can see I just love to romp and swim and stretch my legs at the beach.
I will need a home where I am permitted inside and a family who will give me lots of cuddles and tummy rubs. I would also be best suited to a home where my new family do not work long hours.
I am toilet trained in my foster home although my new home will, of course, be another new environment for me, so my new owners should be prepared to do some initial work with me to set me up to succeed with toilet training.
I love riding in the car, going on outings and am very friendly and energetic.
Whilst I have lived with children before, if you have children in the home, children over the age of 16 would be better as I may accidentally knock over the smaller ones in my play and I will need consistent boundaries in my new home which younger children are not able to provide.
If you think you may be able to provide Buddy with the right environment to continue his development into a great dog in a calm home environment then please email us as much information on the home you are able to provide together with any previous experience with training larger breeds.
