About Axle
My name is Axle, I am a large 4yr old desexed male German Shepherd who is microchipped, vaccinated, on heart worm prevention and my worming is up to date.
I have been with my foster carer since mid 2019. Before coming to her I was cooped up in a small suburban back yard with one friend. I was not happy, I was very anxious and I barked a lot. I wasn’t exercised much and I was very thin.
That has all changed now as I am in an amazing foster home but I am looking for a permanent home where I can be a loyal soulmate, and I will provide you with unconditional love and be with you 24/7.
I have impeccable manners, I don’t jump up on you, I know how to walk on lead in the heal position. I have good obedience skills and am really good when my foster mum recalls me.
I am very social and well behaved with all breeds of dogs big and small, I don’t even mind pocket pets because my foster carer has three, plus three kelpies and four German Shepherds and I run with all of them, how lucky am I.
However I don’t like cats. But I love water, I’m so clever that I can fit my whole big body in my shell pool. I love being hydro-bathed and groomed. The other thing I need is high fencing, if my foster mum doesn’t lock the pool gate I can jump up and I’m smart enough to open the gate with my paw. I am good with teenagers and small children and am respectful of my size.
This has been a very difficult decision for my foster mum to part with me however she feels that I would thrive living with one other dog and having the one on one attention of my humans.
I am more suited to acreage to run around because when you leave or go out I may let the neighbours know I live here. I don’t actually require lots of exercise, I mainly want to be with my new human most of the time, I am house trained and will follow you from room to room. I have lived around chickens, sheep and horses and my fur friends (dogs).
I’m sorry this has turned into a long story but my foster mum wants you to know everything about me and just how special I am. Please click on the link to talk to us about Axle.
Medical notes
Axle is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and is regularly wormed and on heart worm prevention. Axle came to us very thin and in need of muscle development and has been undergoing remedial massage.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
