About Poppet
A lifetime of love and devotion awaits you with this girl.
Poppet is a medium sized bundle of love, kelpie x, and has good doggy manners.
Poppet is currently living in foster care with about 10 other dogs and navigates the complicated social structure well, but her greater focus is on the humans. She would do better either with one other friendly dog for confidence, or maybe even as an only dog if her owners were home more often than not. She loves to come up to you randomly for a pat, just to check in on how you’re going, or to spend quality time with you watching the TV. She doesn’t care what you watch, and doesn’t hog the remote.
She is a bit shy at first when encountering new situations, but looks to you for guidance and once she settles she can be found out in the garden just gnawing on a bone and watching the world go by. She would be up for a game of ball, too, if not for a certain ball-obsessed host dog not sharing the ball.
After settling in, she has proven to be good with chooks and horses. And good with older, dog-savvy kids. We think the more erratic nature of young children may scare her, especially at first. She has not been tested with cats or pocket pets.
Naturally athletic but only moderate energy, and eager to please you, she’s good on lead and will love a walk a day as a great activity to do together. She’ll need good fencing, e.g. 6 foot colourbond, and time inside with the family so she knows she’s truly at home.
If you give Poppet the safety, love and security she craves, she will give you her heart.
Medical notes
Very healthy girl.
Adoption details
In the ENQUIRY SECTION please explain in LENGTH some basics about yourself/ your life/ your household and what type of life you can provide for one of our rescue animals.
If successful, you would be contacted by phone, where we will talk about your enquiry and potentially organise a meet and greet between you/ your dogs/ your family and the potential candidate
From there, you can either take your animal with you if the meet and greet was successful and their vet work has been completed- or if the vet work hasn't been completed, you must wait until it's finished before taking your new friend home which will be organised between yourself and the foster carer.
Every animal has a 2 week trial period.
