About Reece
Hi everyone, I’m Reece, and I’m just about the cutest, most loyal and loving guy you ever did meet!!
I’m sure that my bossy blabbermouth bestie Ruben has already filled you in on our story, but here it is again in case you fell asleep... We didn’t have a great start, being found as wandering strays. Ruben was eventually won over by a nice lady who he told me had a comfy bed and some yummy food for us - and who gave real good back scratches. I bet Ruben told you that I was a scaredy pants but that isn’t really true - I just have to be super careful you see as not all humans are nice. Anyhow, enough sad stuff. I eventually put on my big dog pants and moved in with her too, and then we both got to go to a new home with our super cool foster parents. Just like Ruben said, life since then has far better than wandering through the bush by ourselves! It definitely took me longer to trust; like the first time they put a collar on me I just froze for agesss...
it was weird and a bit scary I guess, kind of like I was trapped, but then I got used to it ‘cos I’m real smart! I still get a bit afraid when new people come over, but once I have a sniff and they maybe give me the magic t-word (did someone say TREAT?!) we actually become best friends
I guess Ruben is a bit like my security blanket but I have been venturing around on my own more often now. And, even though it might take me a little longer to suss you out, it really pays off as once we are mates I am the sweetest, most dedicated dog you could imagine - and my embarrassing foster parents tell me all the time that I have the cutest face and wiggly butt.
My foster care highlights are similar to Ruben’s:
- Scratches, pats, belly rubs, cuddles, hammock hugs, snuggles, and just general loving.
- ALL THE TREATS - I cannot say this enough!
- Learning how to use a shell pool. Like Ruben I am not a natural mermaid (and I had to watch him hop in a few times before I gave it a go) but now I love it and am always totally soaked
- Playing fetch, which I am actually much better at than Ruben
- Going for walks! Yes, the first time we tried it I may have lay down randomly with my feet up in the air afraid to leave the house, and yes I love it so much now that I jump into the air with excitement every once in a while - but I am totally getting there with it and walking the humans is probably my new fave hobby.
Commands I know are sitting and waiting for food, I take treats very gently, I’m submissive, I behave when having baths, and I will stay outside when told. I still need to hang out with more different sized dogs and cats to see how I go, but so far so good!
Time to go and get bossed around by Ruben some more, sigh. He does make a great pillow for sunbathing snoozes though!
Oh, and if you have a room spare at your place for a truly committed new best friend like me, let me know (especially if Ruben also tag along to protect me!)
Reece x

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet at your home, or in a public place. If you have other pets they must be at the meet. You may be required to travel to the pet; we infrequently have admins available to drive extensive distance and it also says a lot if someone is able yet unwilling to come to the animal they have applied for. If for example you cannot drive, feel free to talk with us about possibility of travel to you.
At the meet if you and the pet get along you have the option of either taking the pet on the spot (in exchange for signed contract and the full adoption fee paid upfront) or placing the pet on hold for up to 2 days with a $100 non-refundable holding deposit. This deposit is then taken off the original adoption fee should you proceed with the adoption. Should you place a hold, we will not proceed other applicants until you have removed your hold or adopted the animal.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold pets without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters, so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit is non refundable to avoid time-wasters. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $75 is non-refundable.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; if for example you are adopting a young animal it may not have had a full protocol yet due to age- so any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
