About Buddy
All About Me and My Unique Personality:
Buddy is a gorgeous looking dark grey and white boy. He was adopted as a kitten from Hunter Animal Rescue but was recently returned as the family structure had changed significantly causing him to suffer from anxiety. He has taken time to settle into foster care as he lacks resilience to change and there have been so many changes over recent months. He has a moved a few times between carers to find a home that matches his needs while he overcomes behaviours associated with anxiety, e.g. scent marking furniture, sharpening his claws on carpets and furniture, hissing, scratching and even biting at hands that come too close. He so wants to trust and has started coming out of his shell again liking nothing more than to rub against your legs. As soon as he hears a strange loud noise he bolts back into his hidey hole in the cat climbing tree. No mean feat for he is quite a big boy and must morph into liquid form when pouring himself into small spaces.
My Ideal Home:
Buddy needs a very quiet home where he can go about his day without being constantly handled or exposed to loud activity. He will make a beautiful companion once he trusts you but will need a stable home where he can live out his life without fear. Ideally he needs to be an only pet and does seem to like women more than men. That's probably only due to the fact that men can be a little louder creating fear in Buddy.
What is Known About My Background:
Buddy was fostered and adopted as a kitten but returned to us at three years of age. By that time his family had expanded with children and dogs and his indoor world became too crowded for him. He starting wetting the kids beds, a situation his family couldn't manage. When he returned to foster care he was given the run of the house immediately which created even more stress as he didn't know the environment and had no safe place to bolt to. He was recently moved to another carer and given his own room when he has finally settled down and stopped scent marking and after a few days of hissing, has now come out of his shell for a leg rub and some kitty cat treats. Each day he is getting more confident and happy to take a brief pat from his carer. He is in a home with other animals so knows that they exist but he has not been introduced to them and probably won't be so that the improvement he has made in managing his anxiety is not reversed.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets:
He is not a fan of "others" but will bond strongly with his special forever person willing to take the time for him to come out of his shell.
