About Reno
Hi my name is Reno, I am a senior boy who found myself homeless late in life, but I got lucky and was taken in by Chihuahua Rescue QLD, they have looked after me and got my medical needs seen to. I am a clean boy in the house, I will use pee pads if you need me to but would rather toilet outside if I have access.
So now my search is on for my happy ever after family, everyone that meets me loves me, I am a super chill gent, I would love to keep you company, I do enjoy naps during the day, after all I am a retired gent, I am good with other small dogs, I pay them no mind and also cats! So if you have dog friendly cats I am all for that.
I do have medical needs my ticker is not the greatest, so make sure you do read all of my medical notes, after you have thoroughly read them, the next step is for you to make an enquiry or if you are certain that you would like to meet me fill out an expression of interest, I won’t disappoint you I promise, I have lots of love to give. I hope I get to meet you soon. PS I am not suitable to fly long distance so if you live far away, you would have to drive to meet me.
Medical notes
Reno has a grade 5 heart murmur and requires medication to manage it. He is currently on Cardisure (Pimobendan) 1.25mg and he has one tablet morning and night. The daily cost is approximately $1.15 (50 days worth costs around $57 if purchased online with a prescription from vet)
He is a good boy who will happily take his medication straight from your hand. We recommend regular vet visits - at least every 6 months - to keep an eye on his heart. It’s also a good idea to count and keep record of his resting respiratory rate at home as this can alert you to any changes with his heart, and it’s super easy to do - there’s even a free phone app!
Reno does have tracheal narrowing but this doesn’t seem to cause him any issue and he has been fine having surgeries. He also has had all his dental work done along with multiple extractions, but he still has plenty of teeth left.
As a senior dog, he does have some arthritis which is common, as well as some patella luxation, but it doesn’t cause him any problems. He does benefit from some joint support - he currently has Paws Osteocare chews, but there are many varieties of joint support out there.
He is up to date with vaccinations and parasite prevention including heartworm, intestinal worms, ticks and fleas.
