About Heath ~ 5 yr Border Collie ~ On Trial 11/4/20
Introducing our special needs boy Heath . Heath is a very timid 5 year old Border Collie x who sits as far away from visitors as he can - he has soft and sad eyes that watch your every movement from a safe distance. He is a truly gorgeous boy that you’d love to sooth and pet him if only he knew you meant him no harm. Heath has bonded with his foster carer so we know that given time and space he can build loving relationships with other humans.
We are looking for a very loving single person or couple who are prepared to put in the hard work to grow his confidence and become Heath’s new best friend. Once he’s learnt confidence in his new home, he’d benefit from daily walks to help him to get used to the world outside his yard.
Heath will suit a quiet yet active home with no children (they would be way too overwhelming) and a person or couple who have experience with timid dogs. He is in care with multiple dogs and he is fine with many of them . He can be a little bossy with the other dogs at times (if they get in the way of his zoomies!) but if you have a friendly and calm older dog who can be a positive role model for him then that will certainly assist his rehabilitation.
Heath will require good fencing to keep him safely contained whilst he eases into his new surroundings. He loves to run laps around the yard so a medium sized yard with grass to do zoomies would be fabulous for him . He will also require a safe, quiet place (like his crate in a spare room) to retire to when you have visitors over. He needs to be allowed inside the house to spend time with his humans when they are home. He does still like to steal a few things and chew them up (like remote controls!) so he will happily sleep in a crate inside at night to stop those sticky fingers!!
Heath is a very special boy who is looking for his place in the world. If you have experience with timid dogs and feel that you can offer him a safe and positive furever home then please email us at rescuepooch75@gmail.com . Heath is in foster care near Medowie, NSW (north of Newcastle).
Heath’s adoption fee is $350 and includes his desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worm treatments. You can see all our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au
Medical notes
Healthy yet timid.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
