About Django
Django is beat described as a big baby. He came into rescue scared, emaciated, very sick and with fur missing from spending his life on a chain. Despite all this he was still very much wanting to trust again and as a result has become a loving, playful, smiley (sometimes naughty) boy.
Django has had to learn to be a dog for the first time in his life and is very much like a puppy. He doesn’t quite understand boundaries yet, but his manners are improving. He has the Lab tendency of exploring everything with his mouth and if it looks like fun, he’ll play with it! He has learnt to sit, shake, is working on heeling on a lead, has excellent recall and is very smart... sometimes too smart and a little cheeky, but we love that.
Django is good with kids but he does jump when excited, something that needs more work. He enjoys cuddles, belly rubs and LOVES the hose/sprinkler/water. He is generally good with other dogs and currently living with a Bull arab girl in which he adores and he spends all day with her with no issues , he sometimes needs reassurance during introductions and once he knows he’s safe he’ll play very well and is not aggressive. He would not be suited with cats.
He can be selective with which dogs he likes
Django requires continued obedience training from a committed owner just like a puppy would, but he will make an amazing dog for the effort. He needs lots of walks and toys as he can be destructive, and would benefit from being with a slightly older female dog of the same size to play with and learn from.
Django will need a kind and patient family that have patience to spend training him
As he was on a chain his entire life he is now learning how to be a dog and his excitable puppy behaviours can be challenging lol 😍
He is yet to keep a bed for more that 48 hours in one piece
