About Holly
Meet Holly
Holly is a 10 month old mixed breed female and is approx 30kg.
Holly was 4 months old when she was adopted from a shelter.
She is very timid around new people, and often ducks and cowers away if you approach her. She will usually approach you if you sit down at her level, but can still back away if you go to pat her. She takes a little while to get used to people, but when she does, she is extremely friendly.
Holly has been nervous her whole life - she jumps at sudden noises and sudden movements. She has lived with another dog her same age since she was adopted, and has got along with this dog the whole time, but she does not like any other dogs. She is fear reactive around other dogs, and cries, squeals or attempts to bite another dog if it comes near her. She is not trusting of other dogs, and will often back away, put her fur up, and let you know that she is scared. She has been fine around 10 week old foster puppies, but anything older than a few months old, she is intimidated by and will react to. She has had reaction class training and has sat happily watching her owner for recognition, and has a solid focus on her owner - once she got used to the environment.
She is house trained, she knows her sit, wait (very well when focussing) and “on your bed”. She is quite easy to train if she is comfortable and feels safe. She does not like to shake as she feels vulnerable.
But even at her most comfortable moments, she is still on edge. When she is in her home, she gets anxious walking over the floor boards in fear of slipping, and if she does slip, she completely freaks out until she gains her grip.
When she is settled, she shows her owners she adores them by snuggling up as close as possible to them when she is on the couch, and is comfortable with any and all affection when she is snuggling. She loves to spoon, and loves being inside on the couch. When she is comfortable, she is an absolutely beautiful girl, with lots of love to give and you can see it. She is just too nervous a lot of the time.
She does not like places with lots of activity - she resists on the lead when walking past places like a school, or a park, or anywhere where something is going on.
She is not trustworthy around children, she she gets fearful very easily and may react negatively, and as mentioned, sudden movements and loud noises are a trigger for her.
She would be a good and loyal companion for a person or couple without children and other pets.
Please message us if you are interested in fostering this sweet girl. Geelong area would be prefered so she can attend training with our wonderful trainer.
